That's What She Said
I remember the first time I ever scanned groceries at the self-checkout line. I was buying single bottles of water. The computer wanted me to scan the bottle then put the bottle on the scale. I didn't realize I was supposed to leave the bottle on the scale for the duration of the purchase. So every time I'd scan the bottle then put it down on the scale, I'd pick it up and put in the bag. Which seemed logical to be, but to the self-checkout thing it seemed highly illogical ... and thus would shut itself off and tell me to start again. So I'd start again and scan the water, put it on the scale, pick the water bottle up off the scale and put it in the bag. And once again the machine shut itself off and told me to start again. The third time, which is the charm, I finally figured it out, and left the bottle on the scale for the duration of the purchase. And how I knew how to leave it on the scale? I read the instructions. After that everything went really smoothly.
